8 times Alicia Amin tweeted like a badass
A recap of the best things the opinionated Malaysian model said on Twitter
Asia's Next Top Model Cycle 5 contestant Alicia Amin has been busy – she's been working hard, partying it up and shutting down haters. The 22-year-old model recently came under fire (again) when old photos of her from a nude photoshoot resurfaced online.
Got naked for a shoot, now all I wanna do is travel around this country in the nude pic.twitter.com/KDTPKq37vs— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) January 8, 2016
Many people did not think kindly of her baring it all for the camera. She's also been criticised for her feminist views and for speaking out on how women can choose what they want to do with their own bodies.
"Well I want to say that I'll always stay true to myself because even if I worked hard to be the juiciest peach on the tree, there will still be people who don't like peaches," Alicia told ELLE. "And I'm ok with that, I just wish there were more people who left things they don't like – that wouldn't harm or affect others – alone."
Here are eight times Alicia dropped truth bombs.
1. When she opened up about how her outspoken personality has affected her career (this was in response to the backlash she received about the nude photoshoot).
Many people have warned me that being vocal and opinionated as an "artiste" has different implications to when I just a model.— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) August 26, 2017
I am liberal and also realistic. The Malay urban community is limited & even then u could b the juiciest peach but not evryone likes peaches— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) August 26, 2017
There has been a mixed reaction to the announcement & im so thankful for those who don't even know if I can act, but show positive support— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) August 26, 2017
At the same time my heart hangs low for those who perpetuate a mentality seemingly exclusive to haters who share my ethnic background— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) August 26, 2017
If u are critical of me, I promise to do my best to improve as an entertainer, to be better for my fans. But if you're not gonna like me— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) August 26, 2017
no matter my improvements, u will stand as an example to myself & others, to remind us that we can't win it all & this will keep us grounded— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) August 26, 2017
2. When she was sad she couldn't have a constructive argument on Twitter.
Sometimes I get really excited to debate with people who try me on twitter, but I seldom get people who want to discuss the actual point— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) August 22, 2017
3. When she basically described half the population on Twitter.
People usually go for the low blow when they run out of relevant facts https://t.co/DMCWrPX2e1— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) August 22, 2017
4. When she was brutally honest about her professional life (context: she recently started acting in Malay drama series Meh Sandar Lagi).
And this is the best example of Malay mentality- shoot bogel/fashion pun salah , buat drama melayu pun salah. U can never win.— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) August 25, 2017
5. When she shared this important lesson about working hard.
The moral of the story is; life dgaf if u pray every day, or worked your ass off for the things u have...— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) July 28, 2017
You need be able to adapt to every change and curveball life throws at you. Learn new skills, pray because you're thankful ....— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) July 28, 2017
So many people think that if they do the time and do good religiously they deserve things. Nah man we don't DESERVE shit.— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) July 28, 2017
Success and happiness are not exclusive to the believers & people who work hard. I've seen the godless, the lazy live life well.— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) July 28, 2017
6. When she was just keeping cool in this hot weather.
Kalau panas sebab dosa banyak, kipaslah dengan rezeki. pic.twitter.com/F5KuoWKI8Q— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) July 27, 2017
It's 2017 and people are scared to be proud of their work because it challenges society. Shame on u Malaysia for breaking our artistes.— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) June 23, 2017
8. When she defended the LGBT community.
I genuinely want to believe that God would rather everyone be gay but nice to each other than straight and mean to each other.— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) July 31, 2017
Y'all can @ me all u want u can't take that belief away from me— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) July 31, 2017
Y'all salty af @ the LGBT community but they be out there adopting kids when they wanna start families. Are u helping a kid?— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) July 31, 2017
Straight parents adopt too, sure. But most of y'all would choose to reproduce if u could.— Alicia A✊🏽✊🏽 (@AliciaAmin) July 31, 2017
