Social media cleanse diary: Day 6
You know you're left out when all your aunts and uncles are on Facebook and you're just in the corner, eating almond cookies
I've had good days on my cleanse and bad ones – and today's definitely a not-so-good one. First official Chinese New Year breakfast but again, no one would know cause I can't use social media. As with the rest of the week, I just watch everyone else taking snap after snap. One thing I've noticed since starting the cleanse is that I've sort of stopped using my phone's camera altogether. I guess my mentality is, if you can’t post it right away, what’s the point? The rest of the day is filled with mah jong, chor tai tee and me just observing everyone else using their phones (you know you're left out when all your aunts and uncles are on Facebook and you're just in the corner, eating almond cookies).
At night, we venture out of the house to check out Ipoh's nightlife and end up at the WEIL Hotel's rooftop bar. I'm impressed by how happening Ipoh is and the view is pretty amazing with fireworks going off every few minutes but again, no social media posts for me. Instead, I drown my sorrows in piña coladas and listen to all the Chinese families around me yam seng all night.
