8 things we loved about the Chanel Métiers d'Art show in Rome
The French fashion house continues to outdo itself
The Chanel Métiers d'Art show took place at Rome's Cinecittá Studios (in Teatro 5, if you get the reference), where movies like Roman Holiday, Cleopatra, Gladiator and Gangs of New York were filmed. Needless to say, the show was spectacular and unlike last year's location – the Schloss Leopoldskron palace in Salzburg – Chanel built its own original runway set. Here's what we loved about the show.
1. Paris in Rome
The runway set looked like a film set in its own right, and a little bit of Paris was brought to the Italian capital, down to the boulangeries and cafés, where guests sat and enjoyed the collection.
2. The architecture
Buildings had mimicked ageing and blackened walls, printed glass windows and flowers on windowsills. Any more real than that and Chanel would have built a new town you can live in.
3. Kristen Stewart's jacket
This isn't even technically part of the show, but given the festive season when our eyes are drawn to all things shimmery, the actress's jacket was as much a highlight of the show as what was shown on the runway. Once and Forever, the film she starred in that was directed by Karl Lagerfeld, also premiered at the show.
4. The newspaper boys
Hudson Kroenig, a Chanel regular, and his brother Jameson were the most adorable newspaper boys ever.
5. Rooney Mara
Dark-lipped, choker-wearing Rooney Mara. What's not to love? Also, is Karl giving hints about a new Chanel muse?
6. Lust-worthy arm candy
Perhaps this was a nod to the cinematic soul of the runway venue; Chanel's camera bag is at the top of our fashion wish-list.
Once again, @chanelofficial shows everyone how to present a collection. Turned Rome into a Parisian street, models emerging from the metro, the camera bag, the Coco Chanel film. No words except for #genius. #love #obsessed #fashion #chic #parisinrome #fashiondiaries #fashionblogger #bestoftheday #tflers #igers #amazing #ChanelMetiersdArt
7. Lace stockings
Forget plain fishnet stockings. Lace is the way to go, according to Chanel.
8. Bella Hadid
No one can be as excited as the 19-year-old about this, but Bella Hadid's first Chanel show? That's a really big deal.
