Vetements is giving a famous Manolo Blahnik shoe a makeover

The Hangisi will be like nothing you've ever seen before

Manolo Blahnik was announced as one of the 18 fashion entities that will collaborate with Vetements for the latter's Spring 2017 collection, to be shown in advance this Sunday during Paris couture week. With Demna Gvasalia's knack for producing cult items like his slogan hoodies, a revolutionary take on Blahnik's most iconic shoe is to be expected.

The Hangisi, recognisable for the diamante buckle and satin finish, has been redesigned by Gvasalia to become slingbacks, court shoes, ankle boots and thigh highs. WWD reports that the shoes were also deconstructed – fraying and a deliberately unfinished look are Gvasalia's way of making his mark on the classic heels.

"I am excited about collaborating with Vetements," Blahnik said."I think it is of the moment to mix different brands and wear them the way you want. I like the freedom of that – fashion shows have become so boring – hence why I was intrigued and said yes when they approached me."

The collection of shoes are limited edition, of course, and will be available at select retailers and at manoloblahnik.com, which ships worldwide. We bet Sarah Jessica Parker is already ON this.
