The British Fashion Council and eBay launch BFC Contemporary

The mentoring initiative will help recipients realise their business ambitions

The British Fashion Council has teamed up with eBay to launch BFC Contemporary, a mentoring project for fashion designers. BFC Contemporary's aim is to help designers develop commercial business ideas and strategies. 

This year's recipients, Alexis Barrell, Georgia Hardinge, Paper London, Prism and Zoe Jordan (pictured) will have to create a limited edition item which can be purchased online during London Fashion Week on the first ever BFC Contemporary shop on

Caroline Rush, CEO British Fashion Council said, "We are delighted to support and help accelerate the growth of these very viable fashion businesses. Each of the inaugural BFC Contemporary designers possess incredible creativity and strong brand concepts. With invaluable support from eBay, these designers mark a new wave in British contemporary design, the rise of which we aim to fuel with this new initiative."

Melanie Smallwood, head of curation and merchandising at eBay said, "The first ever BFC Contemporary Shop on will provide a fantastic platform to showcase British Contemporary designers to’s 18 million shoppers."

The BFC partnered with eBay in 2012 on the BFC Fashion Forward scheme which supported designers including House of Holland and Mary Katrantzou.
