Roberto Cavalli has announced that English designer Paul Surridge is its new creative director, replacing Peter Dundas, who left the Italian brand last October.

"I am honoured and proud to carry forward the legacy of this extraordinary Italian house," Surridge said in a statement. "This is a unique opportunity to contribute a new chapter to the Roberto Cavalli universe, which positively celebrates the beauty, sensuality and power of women. It is my intention to show the passion I share for the codes and vision on which Roberto Cavalli built his brand while celebrating the excellence of Italian craftsmanship."

Surridge, a Central Saint Martins graduate, has worked at Calvin Klein, Burberry and Jil Sander (as head of menswear) before he became creative director of Z Zegna, the sibling label of Ermenegildo Zegna. He then moved to Acne Studios to be the menswear consultant. He will make his debut for Roberto Cavalli in Milan this September for the women's SS18 season.
