Riccardo Tisci is not done making headlines. Fresh off announcing his departure from Givenchy, Tisci has unveiled his new collaboration with Nike – the NikeLab Dunk Lux Chukka x RT. The sneaker design is inspired by skate culture and '80s basketball and comes in both black/white and red/white colours.
This is not the first time the designer has worked with the sportswear giant. In 2014, he created his own version of the Nike Air Force 1 and last year, he designed his first Dunk collection, the NikeLab Dunk Lux High x RT, two training shoes (the Free Train Force Flyknot x RT and the Transform Flyknit x RT) and a Chelsea boot (the Air Zoom Legend x RT). Let's not forget this colourful training collection either.
"I think the Dunk has something that's very special. It's grounded in sport as well as in the street style culture," said Tisci. "For younger generations it can fit as many different styles tribes as you can imagine. I think it's one of the most iconic shoes that Nike has ever created."
Like the Dunk Lux High, the new Dunk Lux Chukka also has the same exaggerated features like the big belly Swoosh and enlarged foxing (trimming on the side of the shoe) and eyestay (where the lace holes are lined up).The shoe also has a full-grain leather upper, a Lunarlon insole for ultrasoft cushioning and memory foam in the quilted leather collar and tongue for extra comfort.
The NikeLab Dunk Lux Chukka x RT will be available worldwide on 23 February online and at NikeLab retailers.
