Riccardo Tisci is a possible contender for Gucci position
Will the Givenchy creative director helm the Italian label after Frida Giannini's departure?
[Updated 17 December 2014] Saint Laurent creative director Hedi Slimane has also been speculated as a short-lister for Frida Giannini's role. And so the guessing game continues.
Following multiple designer shifts this year, Gucci's creative director Frida Giannini kicked off next year's creative hunt (and guessing game) when she announced her departure from the brand last week. Now at the head of rumour mill headlines is Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci, who has reportedly been considered for the role as creative director at the Kering label.
However, according to WWD, Riccardo is still under contract with LVMH-held Givenchy until October 2015, and is therefore not likely to break that contract (yet?) to join Gucci.
Although Kering has not commented on who will lead Gucci after Frida's swan song at her Autumn Winter 2015 show, Joseph Altuzarra, Christopher Kane, Peter Dundas, former YSL creative director Stefano Pilati, Bottega Veneta's Thomas Maier and Valentino's co-creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri have all been rumoured to be in the running for the role too.
