Photographer Tyler Shields lets an alligator chew a Birkin bag
Say what you want about fashion that bites; Tyler Shields' latest stunt tops it all
When Tyler Shields invited an alligator over for a photoshoot, little did the gator know that it would be getting a chew toy in the form of the skin of a deceased cousin.
American photographer Tyler fed a $100,000 Birkin bag from Hermès to said alligator for yet another one of his outrageous fashion destruction shoots. He shot actress-model Ana Mulvoy-Ten posing with the alligator, sometimes only inches away from its powerful and deadly jaws.
"At one point during the shoot when Ana and the gator were both biting the bag it closed one of its eyes as if it was going to attack her, but did not," Tyler said. Watch the behind the scenes video here.
Tyler famously set the same bag (in red) on fire after chainsawing it in 2012 in the name of destruction being a beautiful version of freedom. He's also cut through a Christian Louboutin pump – four out of the seven blades used were destroyed along the way – to make a point about why people would pay for a pair of Louboutins.
The alligator shoot is part of Tyler's newest art series Indulgence, which will premiere at the Guy Hepner Gallery in Los Angeles and Imitate Modern Gallery in London soon. What happened to the Birkin bag? It was an alligator's chew toy, what do you think happened to it?
