Phoebe Philo is reportedly leaving CÚline
Is LVMH interviewing designers to replace the CÚline creative director?
Phoebe Philo may be leaving Céline, according to a new report by Business of Fashion, which quotes industry sources as saying that LVMH, which owns Céline, has been interviewing designers to replace her.
"The interviews have been going on for a few months now," one of the sources told Business of Fashion.
LVMH has since denied the rumour that Philo is leaving – "We categorically deny any imminent departure of Phoebe Philo from Céline," a spokesperson said – but did not deny that the interviews for her replacement are underway.
It's not the first time that Philo was rumoured to be leaving the brand. Her departure had been speculated in August 2015, and again in early 2016, when it was thought that her last collection for the house would be for Autumn Winter 2016 – those rumours were promptly squashed with a company memo that said Phoebe and Céline "are more motivated and committed than ever to their partnership and will continue to create beautiful products."
