Olivier Rousteing is the next designer to collaborate with NikeLab. The Balmain creative director's Football Nouveau collection marries sportswear with fashion, so expect plenty of black mesh, gold hardware and longer silhouettes with a big dose of badass.
"When Nike contacted me to collaborate with them, I was really proud," said Olivier. "Collaborating with Nike is not only making clothes or sneakers – it is being part of a universal vision. It was really important for me to bring my aesthetic to the collaboration."
"My aesthetic is about richness, so I wanted to use a lot of gold and badges. Black is sleek and timeless and the gold is about victory and winning," he added. "You can wear these throughout the day for comfort or with a tailored jacket or different garments and still feel cool, strong and sexy."
Introducing the Men’s NikeLab N98 x OR. Rousteing incorporates mesh and neoprene fabrics throughout this restructured rendition of the fabled design, giving comfort a modern makeover with multi-layered concepts where sport blends with high design. The stretch knit fabric, with the two-way zipper and adjustable waistband creates a modern, street-ready expression of a pre-game staple. Available June 2 to nike.com/nikelab and select #NikeLab destinations worldwide.
Olivier's collection includes footwear, too. Inspired by Nike Football's four silos (Mercurial, Magista, Hypervenom and Tiempo), the shoes have been redesigned without the studs on the soles to make them streetwear-friendly. Staying in-theme with rest of the collection, they come in black with gold accents.
