Nadia Rahmat won the role that every Marc Jacobs fan wanted – a place in the Marc by Marc Jacobs SS15 campaign, which the designer recruited for through Instagram. We caught up with the 23-year-old Singaporean to find out how it happened, and what it's meant.

What did you do for your entry for the Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign casting?
No set up was done, I just hash-tagged a photo of me covered in my friend's henna artwork!

What do you think it was about your entry that got you chosen?
Perhaps my style played a part? I'm just being myself and have always dressed in a way that reflects the essence of my character so I guess they spotted it in that photo.

How do you feel seeing your campaign shots out now on the Marc Jacobs instagram (and soon, everywhere!)
It's weird, really! It feels like one of those photos where people Photoshop themselves in just for fun! But I look again and I'm like "Wow I really did that. This is happening."

What do you think about being the only Southeast Asian face chosen for the campaign?
I feel lucky because I get to represent what Southeast Asia is all about: diversity. We come from culturally diverse roots and I think that's amazing. As for the fashion, it's nice that we have certain elements of our culture incorporated into our style (for example, batik)! It's beautiful but also reflects part of a culture which is nice.

What other modelling jobs have you done before?
I've been the face for the label Mash Up for some time now. Also with YESAH. They're all owned by my friends so it's always fun working with them.

How would you describe your personal style philosophy?
Dress in whatever I want as long as I'm comfortable in it!

Who do you consider your biggest fashion influences?
At the moment I take inspiration from musician FKA Twigs. Her style is so distinct and I admire that.

What do you love about Marc Jacobs and how does the brand complement your own style?
I love that they're challenging the boundaries of fashion like doing this #CastMeMarc thing. The brand is loud and fun and I feel that it aligns really well with my character.

What's your must have item for the coming season SS15?
Sorry, I don't pay attention to must-haves because they change so quickly!
