M.Patmos, the label of American designer Marcia Patmos, won first place in the International Woolmark Prize (IWP) in Beijing last night, beating four regional finalists that included VMajor from China and Strateas.Carlucci from Australia.

Marcia's prize includes AUS$150,000 plus the chance to have her pieces sold in international retailers including Saks Fifth Avenue, Mytheresa.com and more.

M.Patmos was chosen as the winner for the designer's ability to tell a story through the collection. "People love a story. That was made incredibly clear in the first round, and I made sure that I had a strong one," she said.

Marcia's story was about connecting streetwear with natural fibres while being eco-friendly and also staying warm and looking cool too. The prize was judged by a panel that included Victoria Beckham, Angelica Cheung, Franca Sozzani and British journalist Colin McDowell.
