Guests turned up for Prada's Spring/Summer 2015 Menswear show expecting, well, menswear. However, designer Miuccia Prada changed things up a little by also sending female models next to her male models to walk her poolside runway.

Featuring looks from her resort collection – but she doesn't like calling it that because it is "B-level" – the slouchy, feminine looks lent the retro menswear show "a sense of what is meaningful and real," she said.

"I think the combination is more real," Miuccia said. "It is more today. Otherwise it looks like we are in classes, in the time of my grandfather, women divided from men."

The 65-year-old trendsetter called her menswear collection "conservative". Despite it being a summer collection, classic pool setting and all, Miuccia said that the unexpected mix "was a joke and an irony on what was classic."

She continues to show her main womenswear collections in Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter without having her menswear guest-starring, but she hinted that she may yet mix things up next time.
