Michael Kors' efforts in fighting world hunger have not gone unrecognised. He was presented the McGovern-Dole Leadership award at World Food Program's (WFP) annual ceremony yesterday by US Vice President Joe Biden. Actress Olivia Wilde, Jessica Hart and Cameron Russell were also in attendance.

"I'm thrilled and humbled to receive this award, and more importantly, to be a part of the incredible work that WFP does day in and day out, all over the world, to help fight hunger," Michael said in a statement.

The recognition was a long time coming as his Watch Hunger Stop initiative, in partnership with WFP, has provided over 13 million meals for the students in Cambodia, Mozambique, Nicaragua and Uganda.

"Michael's partnership with WFP is helping children in impoverished countries return to and remain in the classroom – simply by providing good nutrition," said WFP Board Chair Hunter Biden. "Having travelled around the world with WFP and seen the impact of the agency's school meals program, I know that WFP, thanks to the support of partners like Michael Kors, are removing hunger as a barrier to education."
