[Updated 10 November 2014] It is confirmed that Marco Zanini has left Schiaparelli. The Italian house will announce their new creative director very soon. In the meantime, Shiaparelli has released a statement saying: "The house of Schiaparelli is looking towards its future while transcending the aesthetic codes created by Elsa Schiaparelli. It follows a dynamic where a contemporary spirit meets its founder's daring personality."

Little more than a year after leaving Rochas to become creative director of Schiaparelli, there are rumours that Marco Zanini is not happy at the Italian fashion house.

According to some sources, the 43-year-old designer feels the label "is not exactly his fit" and has his eye on the exit. Zanini's first couture collection for Schiaparelli was presented in Paris back in January to critical acclaim. In July he showed a "prêt-à-couture" collection, which had the skill and finesse of couture, but was sold like ready-to-wear. This show was also warmly received, despite not being couture in its purest form.

Both Zanini and Schiaparelli officials have so far refused to comment, so for now we'll have to wait and see whether this is another move in the designer musical chairs game.
