Marc by Marc Jacobs to be discontinued
It has been confirmed that the label will be absorbed under its parent brand
[Updated 24 March 2015] It's official. Marc Jacobs himself has confirmed that Marc by Marc Jacobs will close and be merged with the main brand. "In a sense, we’re starting at the beginning," Marc told WWD. "It sounds like a musical... a very good place to start." It has not yet been revealed what Marc by Marc Jacobs creatives Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley have in store for their future now that the line has been dissolved.
Before anyone freaks out, it has only been rumoured that Marc by Marc Jacobs, led by Katie Hillier as creative director and Luella Bartley as design director, will be discontinued as a standalone label.
Instead, it has been suggested the label will rejoin its parent brand to create one collection that will "encompass a range of merchandise and price points currently divided between the two lines" to give customers a bigger range of products.
The news as reported by WWD has yet to be confirmed by Marc Jacobs reps.
