Bulgari has just announced that Lily Aldridge will be the face of its campaigns in 2017. The model was selected by the Italian jewellery house to evoke a type of "Roman opulence" according to CEO Jean-Christophe Babin, because "even though she is not Italian, she looks golden and exotic – very much like those [classic] Italian divas."

Lily follows in the footsteps of previous faces of Bulgari, namely Rachel Weisz, Julianne Moore and Carla-Bruni Sarkozy. On choosing a model instead of famous actresses this time, Babin said that Bulgari does not "need people identifying one person with our [Bulgari's] name."

While that may be, Lily is a force to be reckoned with herself; she is already a household name in the fashion world, especially for her work as one of the elite Victoria's Secret Angels. Her ads for Bulgari will run starting November.
