In its second year, Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) will feature over 80 local designers, both established and emerging. The main focus this year is The Runway Collection, a selection of runway-worthy distinctive new lines and structures that have yet to make an impact in the mass market.

“We are looking to change the mindset of younger generation shoppers that Malaysian designers are on par with international retail markets,” said Andrew Tan, founder of KLFW.

Designers showing include Farah Khan, Khoon Hooi, Tom Abang Saufi by Iman, Silas Liew, Jonathan Liang, Alia Bastamam, Innai Red and Joe Chia.

Adding to the roster are two new shows, UITM8 and SHOW3. UITM8 will feature eight fashion design students from MARA University of Technology. SHOW3 features new Malaysian labels. There will also be three guest designers from Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines showing at KLFW.

This year’s KLFW takes place from 18 to 22 June in Pavilion KL. KLFW is organised by Andrews Models
