Kristen Stewart to star in Chanel film
Which Karl Lagerfeld directs, of course
Kristen Stewart is taking her relationship with Chanel to the next level. After appearing in a recent Chanel campaign and "gambling" at the label's Haute Couture show, the 25-year-old actress is now starring in a Chanel film made for the house's next Métiers d'Arts presentation.
The great multi-tasker and Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld directs the film of course because, well, why not? "They make so many movies about Chanel, why can't I make one?" he tells WWD. Shot in film director Luc Besson's Paris studio, the short film revolves around an actress (Kristen) who is playing Coco Chanel in a fictional biopic.
"She played it really, really mean. You only see her in tests and she's complaining about everything. She's mean with the director; mean with the producer," Karl describes Kristen and her character. We say, who better to play a malcontent actress than Kristen, eh?
The film will premiere at Chanel's Métiers d’Arts show in Rome on 1 December.
