Kering partners with Cannes Film Festival
The luxury and lifestyle fashion group signs on for five years with Europe’s most glamorous film festival
Kering, the good people who bring us Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta and Balenciaga, among other luxury, sport and lifestyle brands, has signed on as an official partner of the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival for five years.
They join official beauty partners, L'Oréal Paris and Dessange, and jewellery house Chopard, and can now look forward to greater exposure for their apparel and accessories brands during the festival, which is scheduled for May 13 – 24 next year.
The partnership marks a move to focus more on the role of women in cinema, the President of Cannes International Film Festival, Pierre Lescure, said. "Cannes International Film Festival has been promoting film internationally for almost 68 years, a mission of which the Festival de Cannes is the annual highlight and to which women of the industry make a major contribution. By collaborating with Kering, we come together to promote film, talent, and the women who contribute to the future of the film industry."
This news also follows an announcement made in October about a new Cannes Fashion Festival, a standalone fashion event to be held from May 20 – 22, 2015.
The film festival, already in its 68th edition, has always been as much about its fashion as the cinema and talent it honours, and the addition of the Kering partnership and fashion festival can only elevate the industry profile even higher.
