In Cartier's brand new campaign, their new it-girl is model and singer-songwriter Karen Elson. She has a serious Marilyn Monroe moment in the 90-second film, frosted with dazzling Cartier diamods.

The film recalls Marilyn's 1949 movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, where Karen is surrounded by spellbound suitors, holding onto her flying red dress. Karen belts out Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend while prancing around the City of Light in a scarlet dress.

The setting is Paris, from Place Vendôme to the Grand Palais. We see a diamond-encrusted riverboat cruising down  the Seine, the Eiffel Tower and a glitzy Ferris wheel. The city's facades reflect the exhilarating, romantic tempo of the film, designed to depic the emotions a woman feels when she slips an exquisite Cartier ring on her finger.

Watch the movie above, directed by Swedish filmmaker Johan Renck, about Cartier's exquisite jewels.
