Kanye West's 'Wolves' music video is actually the Balmain campaign
No wonder everyone was crying
Kanye West dropped a new music video for his track Wolves featuring Sia and Vic Mensa. The Steven Klein-directed clip also doubles as Balmain's AW16 campaign, the one in which the #BalmainArmy shed tears. Why anyone would look sad when they're in a Kanye music video and a Balmain campaign is beyond us, but it's probably an artistic expression we'll accept because, well, Kanye and Balmain.
"The hauntingly beautiful Wolves made a big impression on me," said Olivier Rousteing, Balmain's creative director. "From the moment I heard that song, I knew we had to use it for this campaign. I told Kanye that a few days later, when I called to congratulate him. I was thrilled when he immediately responded that he was on board and excited to see how involved he wanted to be – in addition to his music talents, he's got an amazing cinematographic instinct."
"It was shot right after the Met Ball," Olivier added. "Pascal, Steven and I pulled together as many members of the 'Balmain Army' who were in town and we spent two days creating a true collaboration – beginning with a riff on a Balmain after-party. I couldn't be happier with the result – or more grateful to all who played a part in its creation."
And here we thought the first part of the campaign couldn't get any more dramatic.
