Jonathan Saunders is closing shop
The label is ceasing operations as he steps down as creative director
Jonathan Saunders has resigned as creative director of his eponymous label. He cited 'personal reasons' for stepping down, and as a result, the London-based brand will close shop.
Jonathan made the announcement on Tuesday with his partner, Eiesha Bharti Pasricha. "It is not a decision that I take lightly, and I am eternally grateful to my team for all their hard work and dedication,” Jonathan said in a statement. "Eiesha has not only been a fantastic partner over the last year, but an incredible support and we remain close. I am very thankful for all of the friends that I have across the industry, and I look forward to working with everyone again soon on future creative projects."
The label, one of the most celebrated new British fashion houses, known for its graphic prints, vivid hues and A-line skirts, started in 2003. It quickly earned critical acclaim and legions of celeb fans, including the likes of Michelle Obama and Sienna Miller. The brand attempted to amp up international sales by moving their 2010 runway show to New York Fashion Week, which didn't do enough for turning the label into a global mainstay.
The brand's Spring 2016 collection was its last. What will Jonathan be up to next? We can't wait to find out, but we definitely haven't seen the last of him.
