It's been a big week for Bulgari. The Italian brand named male actor/model Jon Kortajarena as its new global watch ambassador, unveiled a new look for the Serpenti watch, and introduced the Octo Finissimo Automatic at Baselworld 2017.

At just 5.15mm total thickness, with a 2.23mm movement for the 40mm model, the Octo Finissimo sets a new world record as the slimmest ultra-thin self-winding watch on the market. Lightweight, elegant and unobtrusive yet eye catching, it's the ultimate everyday watch for modern men.

"Bulgari broke the mould when it made the Octo Finissimo Automatic – not only is it a world-record-breaking watch with the thinnest automatic movement ever made but it's also entirely distinctive," said Jon. "It is the gentleman's watch, with so much style."

"I love how Bulgari is always pushing the boundaries, it is a brand that seeks and meets challenges, this is something I am always doing in my work too, and it is a big reason why I love Bulgari watches," Jon added.

Bulgari's second big surprise was the Serpenti Skin, the brand's first entirely customisable watch, which features interchangeable straps in exotic snakeskin or calf leather. Factor in dial and case options, and you have 312 possible styles to choose from, all of which you can explore via the specially created app before settling on your design. The new Serpenti watch will be in Bulgari boutiques from May.
