John Rocha is retiring from London Fashion Week
The designer has announced that AW14 was his last London Fashion Week show
Designer John Rocha has officially announced that he will no longer be showing at London Fashion Week, after 29 years of regularly presenting collections.
"It has been an amazing journey for me, one for which I am truly grateful, grateful for the opportunity to present my vision and to follow my dreams," said the Hong Kong-born, Ireland-based designer in a statement. "But now it is time for me to explore new challenges. And so I have decided that from September, I will no longer present a collection at London Fashion Week, and that even though I am so happy with the wonderful response to my AW14 collection, sadly it will be my last."
This means that John Rocha’s eponymous brand will no longer be producing Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter collections, and instead will focus on existing collaborations with Debenhams, Waterford Crystal and Specsavers. John also has his eye on new projects in the fields of architecture and interiors.
We’ll miss seeing John Rocha’s beautiful creations on the runway but we’re drawing considerable consolation from the fact that daughter Simone Rocha is only at the beginning of what is bound to be an illustrious career in fashion. Happy (kind of) retirement, John!
