John Galliano, the newly appointed creative director of Maison Martin Margiela, has surprised us all by choosing to show his debut couture collection for the label in London instead of Paris.

The collection will be presented on 12 January 2015 "around tea time" according to Business of Fashion, but will also be available for viewing by appointment during Paris Couture Week.

Galliano was dismissed from his role as Dior's creative director in 2011 after making racist and anti-Semitic comments at a bar in Paris. He has since kept a fairly low profile, so all eyes will be on him this January when he sends out his creations for Martin Margiela.
