John Galliano plans to bring former contributors to Maison Martin Margiela
The controversial French designer needs a little help from old friends at his newfound title in the Belgian haute couture house
We guess old habits die hard. Just last week, the avant garde fashion house dropped a surprising announcement, appointing John Galliano as creative director for Maison Martin Margiela and already Mr Galliano is causing a stir. Sources are reporting that he is planning to bring some of his former collaborators over to the Belgian house with him.
Among them are former Dior collaborator, Vanessa Bellanger, John Galliano house's Alexandre Roux, Roberto Cavalli's Jean-Yves Mustiere and his former chef d'atelier Rafaele Hardy.
By hiring John as a "new charismatic creative soul" in Margiela, the fashion house is looking for a fresh start, with a blend of new and existing employees in the design team.
A Margiela rep has commented, "We are still considering ourselves as a collective under the guidance of a creative director." Maybe John bringing his former collaborators is not such a good idea? We're not sure. Best of luck to John! We can't wait to see what he'll bring to the collection at Paris Couture Week in January 2015.
