J.W.Anderson debuts Converse collaboration at men's Spring 2018 show
The Chuck Taylor and Thunderbolt styles just got a cool makeover
[Updated 16 June 2017] The J.W.Anderson x Converse collection won't be available in Malaysia, but will be out in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the US, so enlist the help of friends abroad.
[15 June 2017] Streetwear and luxury fashion meet again in a new collaboration between Converse and J.W.Anderson. Designer Jonathan Anderson, who just showed his Spring 2018 menswear collection at the Villa La Pietra in Florence, has put his own spin on the classic Chuck Taylor and Thunderbolt styles, expected to launch late autumn.
"I've been wearing Converse for years and years," Anderson told Business of Fashion. "So when they approached me I couldn't turn it down because it's something that I wear."
We can relate, Jonathan.
The updates he made include a multi-tone glitter finish on the Chucks and denim on the Thunderbolt. One pair of silver Chuck Taylor high-tops, as seen in the video below on the second model, is even almost boot-like.
Anderson's collaborations are a part of an overall strategy to reach more people outside the borders of his namesake brand. Earlier this year, it was announced that he is working on a capsule collection for Uniqlo LifeWear. We've yet to hear if Converse is bringing Anderson's sneaker collection to Malaysia – keep your fingers tightly crossed.
