Givenchy to show in New York instead of Paris
Riccardo Tisci is bringing his Spring 2016 collection to the Big Apple
A huge fashion switcheroo is happening this September. Givenchy has chosen New York as its venue for its Spring/Summer 2016 Ready-to-Wear show instead of its homebase, Paris. The show is scheduled for 11 September, which happens to be the 14th anniversary of the World Trade Center terrorist attacks.
The move to New York Fashion Week, of course, wasn't some decision creative director Riccardo Tisci made on a whim. The show is also set to coincide with the opening of the French label's new store on Madison Avenue in Manhattan. This two-storey boutique will join Givenchy's two other US stores located in Las Vegas and Miami.
As for the upcoming show, Riccardo is aware that his chosen date is a very delicate day for America, so the designer promises that the show will be "a celebration of culture and love." He also reveals that he is working with performance artist Marina Abramović for the show, while the Internet is betting on front-row appearances by the Kardashians. Sounds exciting and we can't wait to see Riccardo's plans unfold.
