Gisele walks her final runway
Goodbye, Gisele! You will be missed
Gisele Bündchen has walked her final runway, ending a 20-year catwalk career that began when she was just 14. Fittingly, the Brazilian model chose to walk her last show in Sao Paulo for local label Colcci.
The highest paid model in the world confirmed the news in an Instagram post with a picture of her 14-year-old self. "I am grateful that at 14, I was given the opportunity to start this journey," she wrote. "Today after 20 years in the industry, it is a privilege to be doing my last fashion show by choice and yet still be working in other facets of the business. #firstrunway #14yearsold"
But why stop now when she looks like she could easily do a few more years?
"Automatically my body tells me if what I do is worth it, and it asked to stop," Gisele said in an interview. "I respect my body. It's a privilege to be able to stop."
Although she won't be on the runways any more, it has been reported that Gisele will still appear in campaigns and editorials. While she has had plenty of support for her decision from all sides, including from other models in the show, who all wore T-shirts with her face on them, the biggest support came from husband Tom Brady, who took to Facebook to pen a note.
"Congratulations Love of my Life. You inspire me every day to be a better person," he wrote. "I am so proud of you and everything you have accomplished on the runway. I have never met someone with more of a will to succeed and determination to overcome any obstacle in the way."
Isn't that sweet? But wait, there's more.
"You never cease to amaze me. Nobody loves life more than you and your beauty runs much deeper than what the eye can see. I can't wait to see what's next. I love you. #GOAT #thebestisyestocome."
