Fashion designer L'Wren Scott Found Dead In Her New York Apartment
The 47-year-old died from an apparent suicide
L'Wren Scott, the 47-year-old fashion designer and girlfriend of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger was found dead in her apartment in the early hours of Monday reports BBC News. She was found by her assistant.
A spokesperson for the New York City Police Department said: 'A 49-year-old female was found this morning at 10.05am on 200, 11th Avenue. She was unconscious."
Her death comes a month after she cancelled her London Fashion Week shows.
L'Wren, born Luann Bambrough, was raised by adoptive parents in Utah before moving to California to start her career as a model. She then became a Hollywood stylist and dressed stars like Madonnna, Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, Penelope Cruz and Ellen Barkin.
The long-legged brunette, who towered over most people with her 6'3 height, launched her own collection, 'The Little Black Dress' in 2006. Last year L'Wren worked on a collaborative collection with Banana Republic. She was also a costume consultant for films such as Eyes Wide Shut and Ocean's Thirteen.
Tributes poured in from the fashion and celebrity world with Madonna saying: "This is a horrible and tragic loss. I loved L'Wren's work and she was always so generous to me."
Marc Jacobs tweeted: "Rest in peace, L'Wren Scott. You'll be forever missed."
Sarah Jessica Parker said to Women's Wear Daily: "She was one who seemed to come naturally to joy. She was a joyous participant, a planner. There was a delight to her that is hard to imagine extinguished. She had discipline, skill and talent and the recognition was an enormous source of pride for her because she waited so long and worked so diligently."
