Fashion Instagrammer of the Year Award
The CFDA adds new category to annual awards roster
[Updated 3 June 2014] Patrick Janelle of @aguynamedpatrick was announced as the winner of the Fashion Instagrammer of the Year award.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has just made America (and the whole world) take Instagram a whole lot more seriously. The Fashion Instagrammer of the Year is now an official award, thanks to social media trends.
"Instagram has become the platform for visual expression in fashion because it's quick, easy, accessible – it's always with you," said Kevin Systrom, Instagram co-founder. "It's enough of a category that the CFDA want to take that trend and maximise it in some way."
The winner of the award will be attending the awards night on 2 June, but will not step onto the stage with the likes of Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, or Joseph Altuzarra to receive a the silver statue. However, he or she will be in made charge of the CFDA Instagram account that night.
From today until 30 May, you can vote for your favourite of eight nominees by first following them on Instagram, and then liking pictures that are tagged with #MyCFDA.
Here are some of the works by the nominees.
