Rumours were rife about Donna Karan's departure from DKNY and Donna Karan, both of which are held by LVMH after Donna sold them to the corporation in 2001. Although the designer has mentioned that she doesn't know if she and LVMH may end their relationship – "not at the moment" – she spoke about the tension between them.

"Vuitton runs their businesses separately," she said in an interview. "I would love to work more with them, but Vuitton has given me the cold shoulder."

Donna admitted that she would like to be back in handbags, but LVMH has not allowed her the opportunity.

"One of the appeals of the sale to LVMH is that they would have been the perfect partner in handbags, but instead they saw me as a fashion designer," she said. Donna is still creative director of her eponymous labels.

Amidst common knowledge that Donna is interested in spiritualism and philanthropy, the 65-year-old said that this doesn't mean that she's detached from her brands. "It is not that I am here and there. I am connecting the dots in a holistic world. Sculpture and art and culture are my driving forces."
