Donatella Versace breaks boundaries in her Givenchy campaign
Here's why it is awesome
Gone are the days where only top models get to be in big campaigns for fashion houses. While models are far from obscure, celebrity culture has caught up, giving way to non-model muses who are tapped by designers to grace advertisements.
Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci takes it a step further – he got another designer, Donatella Versace to be the face of his campaign. It is unusual for a designer to front another fashion house's ads, given how they're technically rivals in the industry, but that's all about to change, according to Donatella.
"I believe in breaking rules," the Versace designer said. "Riccardo Tisci is extremely talented and above all my dear friend. We are family. I want to get rid of the old system, work together, support each other and make fashion a true global community."
Even Versace shared the Givenchy campaign photos, shot by Mert and Marcus, on their Instagram. Brace for more crossovers, fashion world (we love it).
Riccardo also posted a couple of photos of his 'Victorian Gang' models from the campaign.
