Dior Joaillerie releases the La Rose des Vents collection
Designer Victoire de Castellane pays tribute to Christian Dior with a new jewellery collection inspired by the Dior founder's story
Dior has a brand new fine jewellery collection that is full of the history of the house.
The Joaillerie La Rose des Vents collection was inspired by the house and region that Christian Dior grew up in. Specifically, the medallion bracelets and necklaces feature the wind rose (rose des vents in French) pattern that is also traced out in the mosaic floor of the pool behind the Les Rhumbs mansion in Granville, where Christian spent his childhood.
"I wanted to start from the idea of a little motif pendant. And what is more metaphorical than a medallion?" asks Victoire de Castellane, creative director of Dior Joaillerie. "A symbol of travel, in it you find echoes of Christian Dior's star and the idea of the good-luck charm, but also the rose, his favourite flower. The whole history of the house is there, implicitly."
The La Rose des Vents collection of gold bracelets and necklaces is available in yellow gold and mother-of-pearl, in lapis lazuli or turquoise, or rose gold with pink opal. See photos of the making of the handcrafted pendants here.
To accompany the collection, Dior also released a number of cartoon sketches that depict Victoire's dream sequence in which she and Christian are designing together.
