Did Karl Lagerfeld really copy New Balance's sneakers?

Do Karl's sneakers look familiar to you?

Another day, another fashion lawsuit. One of the sneakers from Karl Lagerfeld's 'kollections' are being eyed by American footwear brand New Balance for bearing too much resemblance to their signature sneakers with the block letter 'N' on them. Karl's sneakers have the letter 'K' instead. Naturally.

That's not all. Every other element of the shoe's design looks like its New Balance cousin, and even fashion blogs have come to notice that. It's also important to note that Karl's shoes are more than three times the price of the New Balance shoes.

So maybe Karl loves sneakers, and yes actually, he does. Maybe Karl really likes the idea of a chunky sneaker with his initial on it. But maybe a collaboration with New Balance (we actually wouldn't mind one) could have seen the German designer avoid a lawsuit.

Are we the only ones imagining Karl having to take his perpetual shades off if and when he is called to court?
