In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the iconic Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress, a retrospective of vintage and contemporary DvF designs will be held in Los Angeles.

‘Journey of a Dress’ may revolve around just the one (iconic) piece of clothing but is set to be one of the most engaging fashion exhibitions of the year. There will, of course, be wrap dresses on show, starting from the very first sample Diane von Furstenberg created when she was just 26, as well as the latest designs.

But these will be shown alongside portraits of the designer by an incredibly impressive roster of artists: Andy Warhol, Annie Leibovitz, Helmut Newton, Dustin Yellin. The last has created a sculpture of the wrap dress, wrought from chain links cut out of newspaper articles about Diane von Furstenberg.
