We wouldn't need to tell Hello Kitty fans that the world's most iconic feline has her own theme park in Nusajaya, Johor, but in case you didn't know before, you do now. Before you rush off to pack your bags for a trip to Sanrio Hello Kitty Town, you should know that the Hello Kitty fashion sketches you've accumulated over the years could be your ticket to winning a RM5,000 cash prize and a meet and greet with Hello Kitty herself.

To celebrate her birthday, the Hello Kitty Friends Catwalk Fashion Competition is calling all fashion designers and fashion design students to take up the challenge of designing womenswear based on the theme: Hello Kitty Party Wear. All you need to do is submit two designs consisting of one day party outfit and one evening outfit. Inspiration can be taken from Sanrio, Hello Kitty's history and merchandise, as well as Japanese culture, but your evening look needs to also have elements from Malaysian traditional costumes.

The deadline for submission is at 11pm on 17 August 2014. Ten finalists will be announced on 18 August, and given RM1,000 to complete their two outfits before competing for the grand prize at the Kitty Friends catwalk showcase on 1 November 2014. So get sketching and look to impress fashion guru and competition judge Gillian Hung.
