Chanel bag prices drop in Asia, rise in Europe
The French fashion house intends to harmonise global prices. Malaysian pricetags unchanged
Since 17 March, several Asian countries have seen a price decrease in a number of Chanel handbags, while in Europe, the price hike will start from April. Prices in Malaysia, however, remain the same. WWD reports that the bags affected by the new price tags include the 11.12, the Boy and the 2.55 bag.
"We want to focus on customers who are seduced by the brand, who are seduced by our creativity, by our know-how and our finishing, and not just the price differential," Chanel president of fashion Bruno Pavlovsky told WWD.
According to the South China Morning Post, Hong Kong prices have already been cut earlier this week. Other countries affected by the price drop include China, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Dubai and Russia. The recent decline in the euro is one of the factors that lead Chanel to want to decrease price discrepancies across the globe.
While it's not so much good news for European shoppers, Asian-based Chanel-lovers will rejoice in the fact that they won't have to travel to the other side of the world to benefit from the cheaper prices.
