Burberry customers can now star in Christmas advert
Burberry teams with Google for customers to be a part of the Billy Elliot-inspired Christmas ad
Remember that Burberry Christmas ad inspired by Billy Elliot, which had stars like Naomi Campbell, Sir Elton John, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Romeo Beckham leaping to great heights? Now, via Google, you can star (with the rest of the celebs included) in the Xmas advert.
Just a few hours ago at the time of writing, Burberry announced that if you visit their flagship boutique on 121 Regent Street, you can also star in the festive film. Burberry has teamed up with Google to use real-time video stitching to insert people into their Christmas ad.
Here's how it happens: it all takes place inside a designated booth where users are filmed jumping on the spot. The video is then spliced into a 15-second insertion into the original ad, placing the recorded footage into the film itself. So it's you, plus celebs, leaping around to T Rex's Cosmic Dancer from Billy Elliot. The edited video is then emailed to customers who are encouraged to share it on YouTube.
In a campaign making-of film recently released by Burberry, some stars dished out practical advice for anyone planning to give it a go. Actress Julie Walters had sound, face-saving advice ("Make sure you wee before you start") and Naomi Campbell had practical modeling tips: "Be rigid when you go up and be soft on your knees when you come down, look straight into the camera."
