Are Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima retiring from Victoria's Secret?
The veteran Angels will both model this year's $2 million fantasy bras at the December show, but could it be their last appearance on the VS catwalk?
In three weeks' time, the Victoria's Secret fashion show in London will showcase not one, but two fantasy bras, valued at $2 million each. Wearing them are VS veterans Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio.
Given that the pair are two of Victoria's Secret's longest-serving Angels, it is not unexpected news that the Brazilian beauties may be leaving the label. Sources told Page Six that this year may be Adriana and Alessandra's final catwalk with the lingerie label, after 14 and 10 years respectively.
The models, both 33, revealed the jewel-encrusted fantasy bras by Mouawad on Good Morning America last week.
"It's like a highlight really of the show, the fantasy bra, and every year the models, we always get nervous to see who is going to get to wear the bra," Adriana said. "This year it's really exciting because it's the first time that we're going to have two fantasy bras on the fashion show."
Alessandra notes how the models work out hard to prepare for the show, but once they're on the runway, they have plenty of fun. If Adriana and Alessandra are indeed retiring from Victoria's Secret, it would make a brilliant swan song for them to have the honour of wearing the show's highlight pieces.
Their exit from the brand does not mean that they'll be leaving the fashion industry completely, though. Last week Alessandra unveiled her swimwear collection, Ále by Alessandra, which was designed close to the model's own style.
"Each swimsuit has to have details, for me," the mother of two said of the line, which retails on Everything But Water. "I wanted to do something that was very bohemian and chic at the same time, and [with] all the different cuts… there's something for all different bodies."
