Alexa Chung is working on a denim line with AG Jeans
British It girl and style-setter's collection for Adriano Goldschmied consists of the missing pieces of her dream denim wardrobe
Alexa Chung sent stylistas everywhere into a frenzy when she hinted a few weeks ago that she was working on a clothing collaboration with something. Now we know that 'something' is American denim brand Adriano Goldschmied, better known as AG Jeans.
"The collection is inherently the missing pieces of my dream denim wardrobe, which, as ever, is predominantly inspired by a late sixties, early seventies aesthetic," Alexa said of her designs, which include jeans, dungarees, dresses, and what she calls the "perfect, perfect hot pants."
Sam Ku, AG's creative director worked closely with the 30-year-old style icon on her collection. "A lot of the ideas in the collection are items that she wants or her friends want, but they can't buy right now," he said. He also pointed out how, for someone inexperienced in fashion design, Alexa has an "innate sense of style that allows her to put together ideas and pieces that work together."
We don't know how the collection – due next spring – is going to look like just yet, but we know how the buttons will. Oh how you tease us, Alexa.
