In We Are Your Friends, Zac Efron plays Cole, a young DJ struggling to make it to the top of the EDM scene in Los Angeles. He and his friends dream of getting out of the San Fernando Valley, and Cole decides to start playing gigs. After that doesn't turn out well – the party scene in the Valley doesn't really live up to Cole's expectations – he is lucky enough to bump into experienced DJ James (Wes Bentley), who takes Cole under his wing.

It is then that Cole's talents are noticed by the music scene crowd. He also gains attention from James's girlfriend Sophie (Emily Ratajkowski), with whom he later begins a relationship. As you can guess, things get complicated.

The film has yet to show on "Coming Soon" listings in Malaysian cinemas. We're afraid we'd miss out on a lot, especially getting to watch Zac spin heart-pumping beats and flash his gorgeous bod (not even trying to sound subtle here).

We Are Your Friends opens on 28 August in the US.
