'True Blood' actress lands female lead in 'Daredevil'
Deborah Ann Woll will play Karen Page in the Marvel television series
The latest addition to Marvel's Daredevil is Deborah Ann Woll from True Blood. The 29-year-old, who plays Jessica Hamby in the supernatural series swaps her vampire fangs for a human role as Karen Page, Matt Murdock's love interest.
Karen is a secretary at Matt's law firm, Nelson and Murdock. Infatuated with the blind lawyer, she begins a relationship with the superhero, and will go on to become his longest-running girlfriend, as far as the comic's storyline goes.
Matt, who is Daredevil's alter ego, will be played by Boardwalk Empire's Charlie Cox. Daredevil will be the third Marvel TV series to air after Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and upcoming Captain America spin-off, Agent Carter.
Daredevil was picked up by Netflix for a 2015 launch and is one of four new live-action Marvel series which are to lead to The Defenders miniseries. The other three shows will centre on Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage.
Daredevil has also cast Elden Henson as Matt's close friend and firm partner Foggy Nelson, as well as Vincent D'Onofrio as the villain Wilson Fisk – better known as Kingpin. Rosario Dawson is set to star in the TV series too, although her role has yet to be revealed.
