The weird way Cara Delevingne prepped for 'Suicide Squad'
It involved nudity, howling and mud
We've heard of loads of intense, crazy things actors have done to prep for a role, from losing half their body weight to spending time in a psychiatric ward, and now Cara Delevingne is up there with the best of them with her own strange getting-into-character tale.
She recently revealed to W magazine how she got ready to play Enchantress in Suicide Squad. "I met the director, David Ayer, at a hotel in London on a dark and stormy night," she said. "He didn't tell me anything about the movie. Instead, he showed me pictures of these amazing, enlightened, powerful, but very evil women. He spoke to me about addiction and mental illness, which are things I find very, very interesting."
So to dig deep and get into playing Enchantress, she took her director's advice. "David asked me to go and try and find a forest and, if it was a full moon, get naked and walk through the woods with my feet in the mud," she explained. And mud-trek she did, buck naked. "There wasn’t a full moon, but I howled like a wolf. It would have been really funny if someone had seen me," Cara added.
Walking through muddy forest and howling is something most of us did as kids, and it isn't as insane as, say, going into complete isolation for six weeks (that Heath Ledger did to play the Joker), but doing it all nude and with the risk of paparazzi jumping out from behind a tree and snapping a photo of you is commendable.
Watch Suicide Squad when it's out here on August 4.
