The nominees for next year's Grammy Awards are here and leading the list with eight nominations for his album 4:44 is Jay-Z. Together with Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z is in the running for Record of the Year and Album of the Year. Kendrick received seven nominations of his own.

The top categories are largely dominated by other male artists. Bruno Mars received six nominations for 24K Magic, Childish Gambino had five nominations for Awaken My Love! while newcomer Khalid and No I.D (Jay-Z's producer) both got five nods each. Songstress SZA is one of the few female artists who received five nods for her album Ctrl.

Noticeably absent from the top categories is Grammy favourite Ed Sheeran who got nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for Shape of You. Taylor Swift had her song with Zayn Malik I Don't Want To Live Forever nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media. The track Better Man which she wrote for country band Little Big Town was nominated for Best Country Song.
