The 50 Shades of Grey trailer is here and it's left us a bit cold

Beyoncé's "exclusive version" of Crazy in Love did a better job of turning us on

Days after Beyoncé released a sneak peek of the 50 Shades of Grey trailer, the real thing has finally arrived. And by real thing, we mean the actual trailer, not the film itself.

After having read the book, and now watched the trailer, we're still not sure what to expect from the film which will only be released on Valentine's Day next year. Wide-eyed, butter-wouldn't-melt Dakota Johnson plays Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan, a contentious choice after Charlie Hunnam's departure, plays billionaire Christian Grey, a man who "exercises control in all things."

While we're not averse to a topless (and sculpted) Jamie Dornan, we're a tad disappointed that it isn't Hunnam we're seeing on screen. The chemistry may have sizzled more had the role been played by a man who looks like he could, and would, eat you alive. And not by – as much as it saddens us to say it – a hairless man child. To be frank, from what we've seen so far, it's not so much Secretary as it is Sex and the City.

But we won't write it off just yet. Who knows, maybe the lead actors will live up to the hype and blow us all away in the full-length feature.
