The 2016 Golden Globes nominees

'Carol' tops the film list with five nominations followed closely behind by 'The Revenant', 'Steve Jobs' and 'The Big Short'

The 2016 Golden Globes nominations are here! The results were announced yesterday and the event will only take place on 10 January 2016.

Coming out on top is the Todd Haynes-directed film Carol starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, which was nominated for Best Motion Picture Drama, and Best Original Score – Motion Picture while Todd is up for Best Director. Actresses Cate and Rooney were both nominated for Best Actress.

The Revenant, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, snagged nominations for Best Motion Picture, Best Director, Best Original Score and Leo got Best Actor.

The Danny Boyle-directed film Steve Jobs also received four nominations – for Best Screenplay and Best Original Score while the film's stars Kate Winslet and Michael Fassbender each snagged Best Performance.

Another big contender would be The Big Short, directed by Adam McKay, that received nominations for Best Motion Picture and Best Screenplay. Christian Bale and Steve Carell each received nominations for Best Actor for the film.

We're also seeing a lot of television shows entering the competition with American Horror Story: Hotel and American Crime leading the pack. For the complete list of nominees, click here.
