Finally, a glimpse at Jimi: All Is by My Side in its new trailer. After minor roles in an array of films, OutKast's Andre 3000 may have just found his big break in this film about the late electric guitarist Jimi Hendrix.

The story follows the rock legend circa the time of the recording of his first Are You Experienced album, the title that shot him to stardom. 12 Years A Slave's writer John Ridley directed the film.

"André came out to L.A. in January of 2012 and worked with me through April on all aspects of Jimi, from watching video of him to working with a vocal coach to getting as slim and slender as Jimi was at that time period," John said in an interview.

"He didn't just work on playing the guitar, but playing the guitar left-handed... It was always going to be about getting to an emotional honesty with this character, and I cannot say enough about what André did."

We're all kinds of excited for the film, which also stars Hayley Atwell, Imogen Poots, and Burn Gorman. Jimi: All Is by My Side premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2013, but will be released in the UK on 8 August 2014.
